Kevin John Lester

22nd May 1955 - 6th December 2010

Aged 55

............... always in our hearts  ...............

.........A couple of years before Kev passed away he had suffered from with a heart condition and underwent surgery and treatment to give him a a better quality of life. He was living life to the full and was able to continue as a full time career for his wife Gloria. In September of 2010 he was taken ill having collapsed at home, it was natural to assume that his heart had decided to give him some more grief, unfortunately that was not the case as Doctors having carried out tests and biopsies, soon confirmed he had progressive lung cancer that would give allow him less than a year of life. He was no doubt upset and gutted about the diagnosis but he wouldn't show it, he faced up to it and got on with the life he had left, although he would say "Life's a bitch sometimes", and he would update his progress on Facebook. Kev kept his dignity throughout and to the end concentrating on making sure that Gloria would be taken care of when he was gone, not letting himself become a burden to any one, even to the point of making arrangements for his own funeral choosing to be cremated in Jeans and a bright orange shirt, arranging the music at a non religious ceremony and requesting those attending wear casual dress and lay just a single white rose each rather than flowers. His chosen music was:

during the ceremony ........ 'Hold Me' by Mel Carter,
as the curtain closed around his casket ........ 'You'll never walk alone' by Gerry and the Pacemakers,
as we walked from the Chapel the little sod had ....... Monty Python's 'Always look on the Bright Side of Life

Rest In Peace 'Little un'
