Description

KA Pave Point has been specially designed to provide a long lasting, non-shrinking, easy to use answer to the pointing of all internal and external paving work. The formation and development of insoluble crystals into water bearing capillaries and fissures effectively fixes and seals stone paving against the further passage of water and ensures permanent water tightness for the life of the structure. The ka pave point system has been developed to function against water penetration in various weather conditions, defending against damage associated with them.

KA Pave Point is supplied as a powder and when mixed with water, is applied via pointing gun or trowel directly into the open jointing gaps between paving stones.

Areas of Use

KA Pave Point can be used to replace old and failed pointing work from existing paving or on a freshly carried out project. Where other mortar pointing will eventually diminish over time, KA Pave Point will actually expand into joints, channelling into cracks and capillaries, further establishing itself between the paving work. KA Pave Point is a practical solution to any application where open joints have employed, such as garden paving pathways and vehicle parking areas.

Advantages

  • *      Provides excellent waterproofing properties by becoming an integral part of the structure to which it is applied.

  • *      Non toxic

  • *      Dual crystalline and surface action

  • *      The migratory crystalline action is reactivated whenever water contact occurs

  • *      Becomes an integral part of the paving structure, thus eliminating potential wear, de lamination or peeling.

Preparation

As with any pointing treatment, proper surface preparation is essential, however time consuming. This is a critical step in the process and must be carried out thoroughly. KA Pave Point is only fully effective if the capillaries in the type of paving being used are sufficiently absorbent to allow penetration of the crystalline chemicals. All surfaces should be clean and free from paint systems, oil, lose dust, shutter treatments, curing compounds, surface hardeners and other contaminants. Surface preparation can be carried out using high pressure water jetting, grit blasting or mechanical scrabbling. Water jetting has the advantage that complete saturation of the substrate is achieved but lack of drainage facilities may in some cases preclude its use. For a new installation lay paving to desired layout. It is often best to plan a layout before work commences in order to save time and energy readjusting and cutting paving slabs. Remember to include a realistic pointing gap in your layout. This is generally around 30 mm, but can depend on the type of paving being used.

Mixing

It is impotent not to mix more material than can be applied within 30 minutes at approximately 20ᴼc. the recommended mixing ratio is approximately 6 parts Pave Point to one part clean water by volume. It is recommended that the powder is added slowly to the water and mixed to a smooth lump free consistency. This can be hand, but a slow peed mechanical mixer will produce better results. Allow to stand for ten minutes then remix to ensure chemicals have completely dispersed. If necessary a modest amount of water may be added to improve consistency.

Slabs come in various widths, lengths and thicknesses, therefore as a general rule of thumb using slabs 450mm x 450mm x 40mm an average10 square meters per 25 kilo tub of Pave Point is recommended - But remember this will vary depending on width and depth of the joints.
